Language & Currency

On the Orihuela Costa as well as the rest of the Costa Blanca, the official language is Spanish, although because of tourist character of the area attracting visitors from across the world, lots of people express themselves in other languages, but English is widely used as a common language amongst all nationalities in the area.

Being a member of the European Union, the euro (€) is the offical currency in Spain. Other currencies can be exchanged in banks, savings banks and bureaux de change throughout the Orihuela Costa.

Banks open from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 14:00, and on Saturday from 8h30 to 13h00. In summer banks do not open on Saturdays. Savings banks also open on Thursday afternoons, except in summer. Several bureaux de change open daily.
